About us

A home for people who write.

The Writing Club exists for one reason — to keep writers writing. Workshops, critique, and the kind of company that makes the work feel possible.

Our story

It started with five people, a kitchen table, and a deadline.

What began as a weekly meet-up between friends has grown into a community of hundreds of writers across Australia and beyond. Same energy though — show up, do the work, read each other generously, and keep going.

We're not a publisher, not a school, not a gatekeeper. We're a club. A space where the writing actually gets written.

What we believe

Four principles, one club.

Show the steps, phases, or handoff points that make your service or workflow easy to understand.

01

Write more than you read about writing

Craft books and podcasts are wonderful. Words on the page are better. We design every session around getting you back to the work.

02

Feedback is a gift — give it well

Members learn to critique with precision and kindness. The goal isn't to be nice; it's to be useful. Your future self will thank everyone in this room.

03

Finish things

Drafts you abandon teach you almost nothing. Drafts you finish teach you what you actually do. We celebrate completion as loudly as publication.

04

The work is the point

Awards, deals, followers — none of it sticks unless the writing's real. We keep our heads on the work, and let the rest follow.

What our customers say

"I came in stuck on chapter three of a novel I'd been pretending to write for two years. I left the club a year later with a finished draft and an agent. The club didn't write the book. It just made sure I did."
